This edition of the festival featured works such as STARS' "The Towkay's Daughter" written by Stella Kon and "Biji Mata Mak (Mother's Pet) by thePeranakan Cultural Group of the Gunon Sayang Association.
The festival was first launched in August 1978 to revive Singapore's local drama scene. The Ministry provided grants for local drama troupes to put out plays.
