Oriental Carpet Palace in Tanglin Road was a shop selling hand-made carpets from Afghanistan and Persia. It was opened in 1968 by Mohammed Khan Zephyr Amir, a third-generation carpet merchant who sold carpets in Singapore under his name since the late 1950s. He opened a shop at 55 Stamford Road in 1960.
Two years later, Zephyr bought over the original Oriental Carpet Palace located at Orchard Road since 1949. He then commissioned this guide in 1968, the first of several editions, to share the traditions of this ancient crafts to his customers in Southeast Asia.
The company was wound up in 1992.
