Officially opened on 29 July 1966, Yusof Ishak Secondary School was named after Singapore's then first head of state, Inche Yusof Bin Ishak. It was the 66th school to be opened by the government as a co-educational integrated school providing academic education in Malay and English.
It was originally named Jubilee Integrated Secondary School when it first started in 1965, after its location along Jubilee Road in West Coast. In 1998, the school moved to Bukit Batok. In 2021, it was moved again to Punggol due to falling enrollment.
The publication commemorated the school's opening ceremony officiated by Singapore's then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
