The set of four stamps were released to mark the opening of the Singapore Science Centre. It was set up by the government to promote interest science and technology amongst students and the public. The stamp featured featured various abstract symbols depicting the life sciences, physical sciences, science and technology as well as the centre itself.
While the stamps were designed by artist Tay Siew Chiah, the accompanying brochure was by graphic designer Paul Wee Hui Hong.
