This guide was issued to military serviceman and their families who were posted to the British base in Singapore. It offered an introduction to the former British colony as well as practical information such as where to find private accommodation, housekeeping, education and recreation. There were also advertisements for useful services targeted at such families.

This 28-page book was the fourth edition of the guide. It was issued by the headquarters of the Singapore Base District in March 1960.
