The key feature of the logo is a human figure twirling a ribbon with the crescent moon and 5 stars that symbolised the state flag. The design represents the central theme of the parade, “OUR PEOPLE”. The figure is depicted in a forward motion and celebratory mood. It also symbolises the unity of Singaporeans as “One People, One Nation, One Singapore”. Behind the figure is a ribbon that forms the number “99” to mark the year the NDP was held. It also depicts a heart, which symbolises the unity of Singaporeans' hearts and the “heartwave” they are enriching as the country move into the next millennium.
