This logo uses the initials of the organisation, "SM", to depict a flying bird. It was designed by an industrial engineer in the Singapore Mint's Process & Tool Design Section, who was inspired by the freedom associated with such creatures of nature.
When the logo is turned upside down, it also depicts the letters "CIS", the initials of its parent company, the Chartered Industries of Singapore.
