Originally created for Pasir Ris Town Council, this logo depicts a new waterfront town sailing towards a better future. The rising sun in the background signifies the youthful population. These were both features of the new town.
In 2002, Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council adopted the logo by simply changing its name. The newly formed town council took over the functions of Pasir Ris Town Council and Cheng San Town Council after electoral boundaries were redrawn for the 2001 general elections.
